One of our recent success stories is about an engineer with a family of four. They envisioned a modern house with a fusion of modern and traditional architecture. He wasn’t convinced by the studio-type designs of other architects. The family believed in something that involved a sense of tradition and comfort. After researching top architects in Bangalore, they came to Design Thoughts Architects. After understanding their needs and wishes, we delivered the best modern house design.
Client requirement of a modern house -
The client wanted a traditional yet modern house with all the amenities. They desired a 3 BHK duplex house with three master bedrooms and two living areas. On the ground floor, we focused more on the parking and the garden area. The first floor includes living, kitchen-cum-dining and one master bedroom. While the last floor has the rest of the bedrooms and a family room. The total built-up area (BUA) is 4000 SFT for this home.
Style of architecture-
The exterior has a fusion style of architecture with a blend of modern and tradition. Earthy brown colour blends with straight lines of modern architecture. The house stands out from blocks away due to the contrasting colours and textures. Design Thoughts Architects have focused on functionality more than aesthetics. This blog will tell you more about the spatial relationship between the spaces.
Parking-
A spacious parking lot with beauty and function to it. The parking is with an external staircase and an office space on the ground floor. The area under the stairs is utilized for landscaping purposes. The clients can enjoy the garden in the parking lot while having an inviting environment.
Office-
Having an office in your house is essential for productivity. The client preferred to have a quiet office space with privacy. Hence, we designed the office on the ground floor near the parking. We also added a beautiful accent wall to provide a stylish look and functionality.
Lobby/ Entrance porch-
The entrance porch brings life and beauty to the entry area. Here the entrance porch features a Tulsi plant and grills to craft shadow effects. The porch creates an inviting atmosphere that makes visitors feel welcome.
Foyer-
The client wanted an impressive entryway with beauty and function. As a result, we designed a wooden console cabinet for the foyer area to use the vacant space. The cabinet serves as a storage area as well.
Informal Living-
The area under the stairs offers ample storage. So, we gave a solution of custom-made furniture for the small space. Here we utilized the unused space as an informal living area.
Formal Living –
For the living area, the family insisted on focusing on the comfort of being accessible to the outdoors after finding a balance between indoor and outdoor living spaces. We designed the formal living room, which offers a deck area that blends with nature. The deck is also providing comfort indoors and enjoyment outdoors.
Kitchen-
L- Shape Kitchen provides enough storage space for any supplies and groceries. The windows bring ample light & ventilation that make cooking more enjoyable. This kitchen can turn into the perfect spot for family time & cooking. The home offers an open-plan concept allowing them to move freely between different spaces.
Dining and utility area-
The dining area is in front of the balcony to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. French window beside the dining allows natural light, which fills up the entire space. The utility area is near the dining which ensures easy access.

The study area, away from the bedroom, is suitable for working without distraction. The perforated wall illuminates the room with a play of light. The space becomes interactive thanks to the lovely circular pattern of shadow.
Internal staircase-
Designing an L-shaped staircase with a perforated wall will make heads turn. One glance at this mesmerizing staircase will fill you with so much energy. It’s the perfect way to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your modern house without breaking the bank.
Master Bedroom-
The client wanted their main bedroom to be the most comforting space. Since they will spend most of their time in the room, they want every element to their taste and personality. This master bedroom has all the features anyone needs, from comfy seating areas and a classy wardrobe. The windows are placed perfectly to receive sunlight and ventilation.
Kid's Bedroom-
We have designed the children’s bedrooms that are both pleasing and functional. Our style consists of simple yet elegant designs with a particular colour theme in mind. We also ensured that the interior furniture complements each other. Our architects have provided enough space for studying tables as well.
Family Area-
Family time is the most important thing for any family. Having a space for a cosy gathering area for your family and friends can improve stress. With French doors leading to the balcony and two windows providing lots of natural light. It’s an excellent spot for entertaining. It is between the bedrooms, so you can ensure that everyone is close by when spending quality time.
Balcony area with garden-
The balcony is the perfect getaway for those who want a peaceful environment. Here the balcony can help anyone feel calm after a stressful day. The balcony is decorated with plants and has a seating area to relax and enjoy the view.
Gym-
Work out without ever having to leave the comfort of your home. A well-planned gym is a great way to ensure you get in your daily workouts and stay fit. You can even choose from various equipment customized to fit your needs and budget.
Open Terrace-
Summer’s heat, humidity, and sunlight can take the joy out of spending time on your terrace. So, we have developed an Open terrace concept with shading elements like pergolas. It can reduce heat and provide a stunning outdoor space for everyone, with seating options available, creating a cosy gathering spot for your family.
